Prior to assuming his position as president/CEO of the Association of Academic Health Centers and the Association of Academic Health Centers International™, Dr. Wartman was executive vice president for Academic and Health Affairs and dean of the School of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Wartman is an internist and sociologist, and a Master of the American College of Physicians. He has received numerous awards and honorary degrees, most recently the 2015 Johns Hopkins School of Medicine’s Distinguished Medical Alumnus Award.
