The second webinar in the Wrestling Readmissions series as Kathleen Bobay, PhD, RN, NEA-BC offers insights into the READI study which considers the effects of the nurse work environment in contributing to decreasing 30 day readmissions from acute care hospitals.

Identifying patients who are at a higher risk for 30-day readmission provides nurses opportunities to intervene and reduce avoidable readmission rates. This presentation describes an effective approach for assessing patient readiness for hospital discharge and explores its utility in reducing readmissions.

Kathleen Bobay, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, Associate Professor, Option Coordinator for Systems Leadership and CNL programs at Marquette rrniversity, College of Nursing.

Dr. Kathleen Bobay received her doctoral degree from the University of Michigan and is an associate professor at Marquette University. Dr. Bobay’s program of research broadly focuses on the value of Registered Nurses in providing safe, high quality care and the effects it has on patient outcomes. RNs provide much of the health care in the US, but have received little recognition for nursing’s contribution to excellent patient outcomes. The READI study considers the effects of the nurse work environment in contributing to decreasing 30 day readmissions from acute care hospitals. Dr. Bobay is a member of several organizations including Academy Health, American Organization of Nurse Executives, and the Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science.
